For travelers who are planning their Uttarakhand trip this summer, I thought it would be a nice idea to write a travel guide to visit Mansa Devi Temple in this state.

Who is Mansa Devi?

She is the daughter of Lord Shiva. It is said that Mansa Devi is the mental offspring of Lord Shiva and His concert, Devi Parvati. Anyone who visits this temple in Haridwar gets his or her wish fulfilled by the Goddess. Visitors tie threads and place coconuts on the trees in the temple and hope for the best. Once their wishes are fulfilled, they come back and remove those threads.

According to some other sources, Mansa Devi is also the sister of Lord Vasuki, the divine serpent who is also the Lord of all the Nagas.

Another version states that the Devi is the manas putri of Rishi Kashyapa, the father of all Devas and Asuras.

Interesting, isn’t it? Our Gods and Goddesses have families!

Where is this temple?

You can visit this temple which is located on the Bilwa hill in Haridwar. To reach this temple, you will have to walk or drive 3 kilometers from the town.

The ticket price of the cable car also called udankhatola is Rs. 48 per person. However, ticket prices may have been revised by now.

Inside this temple, there are two idols, one belongs to Mansa Devi and the other one is that of Chandi Devi.
